Northern European healthcare systems are currently facing rising costs, aging populations, and socio-economic inequality. Analyze and debate these challenges and their interplay with the organization, financing, and prioritization within the systems.
- Examine what determines the setting of priorities for healthcare provision and the relationship between the many stakeholders involved in policymaking and delivery of health services
- Access real-life and current debates within the Danish healthcare system by presenting a semester-long research project in collaboration with a Danish public health institution
- While on course-integrated study tours, compare and contrast national healthcare systems in Eastern and Western Europe
This program is right for you, if you study public health, public policy, or health science, or wish to pursue a graduate degree or future career in the health professions.

For Gustavus Adolphus students: DIS uses US semester credits. Each GAC unit = 4 US semester credits. Thus, most DIS courses, which are worth 3 US semester credits each, are worth 0.75 GAC units. Be sure to discuss the irregular unit totals with your advisors as you select courses.
