Program Overview

This Program is ideal for students with a love for creative writing or a passion for British literature. Students have the chance to immerse themselves in the culture and history of Edinburgh while working with accomplished British writers.

Students have the choice of taking one of three course groupings surrounding British literature and creative writing:

Text & Context: British Literature from 1900 to the Present: This module examines literature from Britain and Ireland in the context of key societal and cultural developments in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Creative Writing and Contemporary British Literature: This course offers developing writers a supportive environment in which to further their writing skills in fiction, poetry, and drama.

Creative Writing and Contemporary British Theater & Performance: For this module, students get the chance to study theatre and performance while the Edinburgh International Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe take place.
