J-Term IEX Courses

You can complete one or both of your required January courses by participating in any study away J-Term program(s). Each J-Term study away course satisfies one J-Term course requirement.

Gustavus Faculty-Led Courses

January 2024 - These programs are now accepting applications. Applications are due by May 1st.

• India - Tibetans in Diaspora (Conrad)
• Japan - Discover Japan (Sakuragi)
• Olympic Quest - Examining the Pre- and Post-War Olympiads of Germany, France, and England (Banks and Reimann)
• Iceland - "Otherworldly" Iceland: Culture, Environment, and Tourism in a Globalized Age (Moody and La Frenniere)

June 2024 - We also anticipate offering an additional 4 faculty led programs in summer 2024. Applications for June programs will open in Fall 2023. Expected offerings include:

• England and France - 'Make It New': Modernism in London and Paris (Parmar)
• Germany - Music, Justice, and Vocation: Exploring Creativity, Courage, and Callings in Germany (Bungee)
• Spain - Placing Valencia: Language, Community, and the Eastern Spanish Coast (Mejia)
• Thailand and Laos - The King Never Smiles: Monarchy, War and Resilience (Voight)
