Intensive Italian option: All participants in this program begin with an intensive Italian course, which meets for the first six weeks of the program. Students also have the option to take a second course in Italian during the remainder of the semester. Thus, this program facilitates fulfilling the Gustavus language requirement within one semester. Yearlong participants might be able to complete two full years' worth of college Italian.

Viticulture Business field study: The fall semester program offers (at extra cost) an optional short-term field study on viticulture business (farming of wine grapes and the production, sales, and marketing of wine) in Italy. This course will be 0.25 units at Gustavus.
